It was a joy for the resident members of Delta of North Carolina to participate in the induction of new student members-in-course  (60 seniors and 14 juniors) at the Wake Forest University Byrum Welcome Center on April 15, 2025. The chapter was honored by having Undergraduate and Graduate Dean Jackie Krasas as the invited speaker. A reception for friends, family, and faculty followed the short ceremony.  The chapter uses a slightly modified form of the ritual that was presented to the Society by a committee composed of Dr. H.B. Jones, Mr. Alonzo Kenion, and Mr. C.P. West, the chairman and first used in 1958. Chapter President Mark Vail, Worrell Chair of Politics and International Affairs and Vice President Professor of Spanish Margaret Ewalt skillfully led us through the ritual, which includes a brief retelling of the events of December 5, 1776, when a group of young men, students of the College of William and Mary in Virginia, met in the Apollo Room of the Raleigh Tavern and formed a society dedicate to the highest purposes: love of learning and unflinching moral character. Congratulations, new members!
