The junior or juniors with the highest GPA who accept membership in Phi Beta Kappa are recognized as George Washington Greene Scholars. George Washington Greene, a Baptist minister, educator, and missionary to China, received his B.A. from Wake Forest College in 1870. The Greene family subsequently provided an endowment to the Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in his honor.

The C.P. West Award is a small gift given to the senior or seniors with the highest GPA in their class at the College Honors & Awards Ceremony the Sunday before Commencement. Carlton P. West was a specialist in European history who joined the faculty in 1928. He served as head librarian of the college from 1946 through his retirement in 1975 and guided the transition of the library from the town of Wake Forest to the new Winston-Salem campus. Professor West led the establishment of the Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Wake Forest (https://phibetakappa.wfu.edu/history-eligibility/).
